Start ’em / Sit ’em Star Wars Characters

Here’s a handy guide to ensure your intergalactic team makes a deep Kessel Run into the playoffs.

✅ START ‘EM

Chewbacca
This Wookie is no rookie. A veteran player with the physical tools to dominate the line of scrimmage. A massive 7’6″ inches tall and 247lbs with an incredible 8-foot wingspan, he makes Myles Garret look like Kyler Murray. Plus he’s a selfless team player not interested in getting the glory. He saved the galaxy right alongside Han and Luke, but he didn’t so much as ‘WRRAAAARRRGHHH’ when he didn’t get a medal at the ceremony. This consulate professional plays for the love of the game.

Darth Vader
A Sith Lord who was born to play football, he even has a helmet permanently attached to his head. An intimidating presence on the field, he can fling blockers out of his way using his mind and choke out the opposing quarterback just by looking at him. And his cold baritone trash talk with the robo-asthma vibes is legendary: “I find your lack of top-end-speed disturbing, bitch.”

Lando Calrissian
He’s the only brother in Cloud City. We like his upside.

❌ SIT ‘EM

C-3PO
Fantasy managers may be tempted to start him because of his encyclopedic knowledge of the game, or the fact his gold-plated alloy body makes him impervious to injury. Think about it: a guy who can play with his head screwed on backwards won’t be on anyone’s PUP list. But this know-it-all is a coward who hates contact. He’s also a terrible locker room fit who can annoy his teammates in over 6 million languages. This brainiac nerd is basically the Josh McDaniels of the galaxy.

Luke Skywalker
Don’t let the fact this golden boy was Obi Wan Kenobi’s first round draft pick fool you. He’s got all the physical tools, sure, but he has zero swag. Han Solo inspires gun-slinger confidence in the huddle. Luke? He’s Fernando Mendoza with a light saber.

R2D2
He’s dependable. High-motor. First droid in, last droid out. Sneaky athletic. Lunchpail robot, does the little things. But he doesn’t have arms. Can’t carry a football, can’t make a tackle.
