Tension Between Troy Aikman and Joe Buck Reaches Boiling Point After 400th Jay-Z Look-a-Like Comparison
SAN FRANCISCO–Simmering tension between Troy Aikman and Joe Buck escalated to new heights Thursday when Buck said Aikman resembles rapper Jay-Z for the 400th time.
“I’ll tell you what… the media thinks our rift is about Joe’s record-breaking contract with ESPN, and that’s just wrong,” Aikman said. “But it’s really because he won’t stop calling me the ‘White Jay-Z'”.
It got so bad that Aikman began logging the number of times Buck made the quip. “I keep track in the Notes section of my iPhone,” the former Super Bowl winning QB explained. “The smug motherfucker has made the joke 400 times and I’ve had enough.”
When approached for comment, Buck shared his side of the story. “Look, I love Troy Aikman. But let’s be honest. If Jay-Z had less melanin, blonde hair, and longstanding rumors that he was secretly in the closet, you’d mistake him for Troy. Anybody would. Same nose, same mouth. And I would add similar swag to that list. They’re like cross-racial doppelgängers. So of course I can’t stop bringing it up.”
And apparently it’s not just the comparison that gets under Aikman’s skin. It’s also Buck’s trademark delivery: “Troy! Hova! Look-a-likes! Uncanny!” or “The doppelgänger is… TROY!”
Buck’s obsession with black/white look-a-likes doesn’t stop with Aikman and Jay-Z. At press time, Buce had gotten into an altercation with Ice-T after asking the rapper if he and Peter Dinklage were twins.
