Week 4 Fantasy Football Sleepers: 4 Players Ranked Too Low

SHARE

Fantasy football rankings are useful. They are also wrong every week. That is why we don’t simply stare at a ranking and accept it as gospel. Rankings are a starting point. Usage, opportunity, matchup and game environment are where the real clues live.

For Week 4, there are four wide receivers sitting outside the consensus top 24 at their position who have a legitimate shot at crashing that party.

These aren’t “hope he catches a touchdown” dart throws. These are players who have already shown enough to make us believe their Week 4 ranking is too low.

1. Josh Downs — Indianapolis Colts

Consensus ranking: WR31
PigSkinFantasy Week 4 ranking: WR16
Opponent: Washington Commanders

Josh Downs is beginning to look like the player fantasy managers thought they were getting before the season started.

The production hasn’t been spectacular yet, but the opportunity has been.

Downs enters Week 4 with 24 targets through three games, including 11 in Week 3 against Houston. He caught five passes for 77 yards in that game and led Indianapolis in both targets and receiving yards.

And the circumstances are getting even better. Alec Pierce is on injured reserve, removing another significant piece from the Indianapolis passing game. Downs has already been seeing heavy involvement, and now he gets Washington in Week 4.

FantasyPros currently has Washington as the easiest remaining matchup for Downs, while its expert consensus has him at WR31. That is the disconnect. The ranking says WR3. The opportunity says something different.

Downs doesn’t need 100 yards and two touchdowns to pay off. In PPR, a player capable of approaching double-digit targets has a very nice floor. Give Downs eight to 10 targets against Washington and a touchdown becomes gravy rather than necessity.

PigSkin call: 6-8 receptions, 70-90 yards, with a strong chance at a touchdown.

That’s enough to put him comfortably inside the top 24.

The Pig Pen Prediction

Josh Downs finishes Week 4 as a top-20 PPR wide receiver.

2. Luther Burden III — Chicago Bears

Consensus ranking: WR26-32 range
PigSkinFantasy Week 4 ranking: WR22
Opponent: New York Jets

This is the sleeper who could make people look back at the Week 4 rankings and wonder what everyone was smoking.

Luther Burden’s first two games were underwhelming. His third wasn’t. Against Philadelphia, Burden exploded for seven receptions on 11 targets, 61 yards and a touchdown, producing 19.8 PPR points.

But the touchdown isn’t the reason we’re interested. The 11 targets are.

Through three games, Burden has already seen 23 targets, and his route participation and target share have established him as a meaningful part of Chicago’s passing game. FantasyPros previously noted an 18.8% target share and a 31.3% first-read share through his first two games.

Now he gets the Jets. PFF projects Burden for approximately 7.9 targets and 5.4 receptions for 55.6 yards, but still ranks him only WR32 for the week.

That’s where PigSkinFantasy disagrees. Burden doesn’t need a career game. He needs the Bears to keep doing what they’ve already started doing: put the ball in his hands.

With 11 targets last week, another 8-10 target afternoon is hardly unreasonable. If he converts those opportunities at anything close to the rate we saw against Philadelphia, he has a legitimate shot at another double-digit PPR performance.

And unlike some of the deep-threat sleepers on this list, Burden doesn’t need to hit a 60-yard touchdown to get there.

PigSkin call: 6-7 receptions, 70+ yards and a strong chance at another touchdown.

The Pig Pen Prediction

Luther Burden III finishes Week 4 as a top-24 PPR wide receiver.

3. Alvin Kamara — New Orleans Saints

Consensus ranking: RB33
PigSkinFantasy Week 4 ranking: RB24
Opponent: Atlanta Falcons

Here’s the name that could move the fastest between now and kickoff. Alvin Kamara.

And unlike some of the other players on this list, Kamara’s ranking isn’t simply too low because we’re expecting a bounce-back game. His situation changed. Dramatically.

Travis Etienne suffered a hamstring injury in Week 3 and has been ruled out for Week 4. Saints head coach Kellen Moore has indicated that Etienne will miss time, although the long-term timetable remains uncertain.

That matters enormously for Kamara. Against Las Vegas in Week 3, Kamara received nine carries and one target, producing 41 total yards. It wasn’t exactly the box score fantasy managers were hoping for.

But look at what happened after Etienne left the game. Kamara’s role expanded. Now Etienne is out.

FantasyPros currently has Kamara at RB33 in its Week 4 PPR consensus rankings, with the expert range running from RB27 to RB35. PigSkinFantasy thinks that’s too low. Way too low.

Kamara isn’t suddenly guaranteed 20 carries. Kendre Miller will be involved, and the Saints could continue using a committee approach.

But Kamara has something the other New Orleans backs don’t: A proven receiving profile. When Kamara returned in Week 2, he immediately caught five passes on six targets while also receiving nine carries. That’s the fantasy cheat code.

If Kamara gets 12-15 touches against Atlanta and four or five of those touches come through the passing game, he doesn’t need 100 rushing yards to produce a top-24 fantasy performance.

And this isn’t just about volume. The Saints host Atlanta on Monday night in a game that fantasy analysts have identified as one of the Week 4 matchups worth targeting.

Kamara also gets the benefit of having an entire week of preparation knowing that Etienne won’t be available. The biggest question isn’t whether Kamara can still produce. It’s how much of the backfield New Orleans is willing to give him.

PigSkinFantasy is betting that answer is more than the rankings anticipate.

PigSkin call: 12-14 carries, 4-5 receptions, 75-90 total yards and a legitimate touchdown chance.

The Pig Pen Prediction

Alvin Kamara finishes Week 4 as a top-20 PPR running back.

Jordan Addison — Minnesota Vikings

Consensus ranking: WR33
PigSkinFantasy Week 4 ranking: WR23
Opponent: Miami Dolphins

This is exactly what the “ranked too low” category is supposed to uncover. Jordan Addison’s 2026 fantasy start has been, well… quiet.

Through three games, Addison has caught just 7 of 16 targets for 111 yards and one touchdown. That’s good for only 8.0 PPR points per game, and his current Week 4 ranking sits around WR33.

So why are we putting him up at WR23? Because fantasy football has this funny little habit of changing very quickly. And Addison’s circumstances just changed.

Enter: The Justin Jefferson Problem

Justin Jefferson suffered an ankle injury during Minnesota’s Week 3 victory over Tampa Bay and was unable to return to the game.

The Vikings are calling Jefferson day-to-day, and as of Wednesday he did not practice. He remains questionable for Sunday’s matchup with Miami.

That doesn’t mean Jefferson definitely won’t play. It does mean fantasy managers need to prepare for the possibility that Addison becomes Minnesota’s No. 1 receiving option.

And we already got a preview. After Jefferson left Sunday’s game, Addison caught 5 of 9 targets for 90 yards and a touchdown. That’s 20.0 PPR points.

The Timing Is Perfect

There is another reason to like Addison in Week 4.

Kyler Murray is back.

Murray returned from his concussion in Week 3 and played the entire game against Tampa Bay. The quarterback-receiver connection immediately produced one of the biggest plays of the afternoon when Murray found Addison for a 41-yard touchdown.

That matters. Addison has always possessed the ability to win vertically and Murray can throw the deep ball a lot better than Carson Wentz. Addison doesn’t need 12 catches to have a huge fantasy afternoon.

Give him nine targets. Give him a quarterback willing to throw the ball downfield. Take away Jefferson from the equation. Suddenly, we’re looking at a very different fantasy player. And Miami is hardly the kind of matchup that should scare us away from an increased passing-game role.

But What If Jefferson Plays?

That’s the obvious objection. And it’s a legitimate one. If Jefferson is active, Addison’s target ceiling takes a hit. But even then, Addison isn’t necessarily a bad play.

Remember, Addison already has 16 targets through three games despite spending most of his season as Minnesota’s secondary receiving option. He’s also averaging 15.9 yards per reception in 2026.

The bigger question is whether Jefferson is actually healthy enough to resume his normal workload. If Jefferson plays but is limited, Addison could still benefit.

If Jefferson doesn’t play? Addison becomes one of the most interesting WR2 plays of the week. That is a pretty big difference from WR33.

PigSkin call: 6-8 receptions, 80-100 yards and a strong chance at a touchdown.

That’s a recipe for a top-24 finish. And if Jefferson is officially ruled out? Don’t be surprised if Addison’s consensus ranking shoots up before kickoff. By then, the sleeper may have already escaped the barn.

The Pig Pen Prediction

Jordan Addison finishes Week 4 as a top-24 PPR wide receiver.

And if Justin Jefferson is ruled out? Addison has legitimate top-12 upside.
