The Final Whistle Before Kickoff: Week 4’s Fantasy Football News
By PigSkinFantasy.com | October 4, 2026
Sunday morning has arrived, which means fantasy managers everywhere are doing the same thing:
Checking the lineup. Checking the injury report. Checking the lineup again. Then checking Twitter/X one more time because apparently the first 14 checks weren’t enough.
Week 4 has already delivered some major fantasy news, and several developments could change your lineup before the early games kick off.
Here is your final Sunday-morning fantasy football news dump before the games begin.
TERRY McLAURIN IS OUT
The biggest piece of news from the early London game is official:
Terry McLaurin is inactive against Indianapolis.
McLaurin entered Sunday as questionable with a hamstring injury, but Washington is playing it safe with its star receiver.
That changes the Washington passing game significantly.
With Jayden Daniels already out, Washington is now missing both its starting quarterback and its No. 1 receiver.
Stefon Diggs and the remaining Washington receivers become more interesting, but this is not exactly the offense you want to go shopping in for fantasy starters.
The biggest beneficiary could be Chig Okonkwo, particularly in PPR formats.
PigSkinFantasy call: McLaurin goes straight to the bench. Don’t get cute with his replacement unless you’re desperate.
KEENAN ALLEN IS OUT
The Colts will be without Keenan Allen in London. Allen is inactive with his groin injury, while Darius Slayton is also inactive. That’s a substantial chunk of Indianapolis’ receiving corps sitting on the sideline.
The obvious beneficiaries are Josh Downs and Tyler Warren
Downs becomes particularly interesting because the Colts will need somebody to absorb the short-area targets normally available to Allen. If Downs was already sitting in your lineup, leave him there.
If he wasn’t, this is the kind of Sunday morning news that can turn a fringe flex into a legitimate start.
JUSTIN JEFFERSON IS OUT
This is the big one for the afternoon slate.
Justin Jefferson is officially out against Miami because of his ankle injury.
That’s obviously a massive loss for Minnesota. It also creates one of the biggest opportunity spikes of the week.
Jordan Addison becomes an obvious beneficiary. So does Jauan Jennings, who could see additional work in the passing game.
The Vikings are 3-0, but they’re about to find out what their offense looks like without the guy who normally makes defensive game plans miserable.
PigSkinFantasy call: Addison moves firmly into the starting lineup.
BAKER MAYFIELD IS OUT
Tampa Bay will be without Baker Mayfield against Green Bay because of his thumb injury.
That means rookie Jalon Daniels gets the start. And suddenly the Buccaneers’ fantasy ecosystem gets a whole lot less comfortable.
Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka are all talented enough to remain relevant, but quarterback changes matter.
Especially when you’re replacing a quarterback who has been running the offense all season with someone making his first start.
Fantasy managers should downgrade Tampa’s passing game — but don’t automatically bench every Buccaneers receiver. Volume still matters.
ZAY FLOWERS IS EXPECTED TO PLAY
Good news for fantasy managers who spent Saturday night staring at their phone.
Zay Flowers is expected to play against Tennessee despite his hamstring injury.
Flowers is not completely risk-free. Hamstrings are notorious for turning “good to go” into “why is he standing on the sideline?” But Baltimore clearly believes he is healthy enough to play.
If Flowers is in your lineup, keep him there.
The Ravens also get left tackle Ronnie Stanley back, which is another positive development for the offense.
TYJAE SPEARS IS EXPECTED TO PLAY
Tennessee running back Tyjae Spears is expected to suit up against Baltimore despite his ankle injury. That’s important for anyone trying to figure out Tennessee’s backfield.
It also makes Tony Pollard a little less attractive than he would have been if Spears were ruled out.
Spears remains a difficult fantasy start because of workload uncertainty, but his availability keeps this from becoming the Pollard show.
LADD McCONKEY IS LIKELY TO PLAY
Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey is expected to play against Seattle despite his foot injury.
This is another situation where “active” doesn’t necessarily mean “100 percent.” But McConkey’s role in the Chargers offense makes him difficult to bench if you drafted him as a weekly starter.
Keep him in your lineup unless you have a particularly strong alternative
PHILADELPHIA HAS A RECEIVING PROBLEM
The Eagles have some major absences against the Rams.
DeVonta Smith is out. Dallas Goedert is out. Hollywood Brown is also inactive.
And Philadelphia is dealing with offensive-line issues, with Lane Johnson unavailable as well.
That creates a massive opportunity for Dontayvion Wicks, who could lead Philadelphia in targets simply because so many of the normal options aren’t available.
But the secondary receiving options become much more interesting. The Eagles don’t suddenly have unlimited targets. They just have fewer places to put them.
MIKE EVANS IS STILL UNCERTAIN
Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans is questionable with a rib injury.
Coach Shanahan said he will be a “game time decision”. There is a very good chance that even if he suits up, he’ll be on a snap count.
Hopefully you have another afternoon option you can pivot to. If you have an equivalent early game option available, it would be safer to go with it.
MONDAY NIGHT MATTERS, TOO
Don’t forget about the final game of Week 4.
Atlanta visits New Orleans on Monday night.
If you’re carrying players from that game, check your lineup situation before locking in your Sunday players.
The worst possible fantasy outcome isn’t having an injured player. It’s having an injured player in your lineup after every reasonable replacement has already played.
THE FINAL WORD
The fantasy football gods have once again decided that Sunday morning should be stressful.
Terry McLaurin is out.
Justin Jefferson is out.
Keenan Allen is out.
Baker Mayfield is out.
DeVonta Smith is out.
Dallas Goedert is out.
Meanwhile, Zay Flowers is expected to play, Tyjae Spears is expected to play, Ladd McConkey is likely to play.
That’s enough information to move a lot of fantasy lineups. But remember the cardinal rule of Sunday morning:
Don’t replace a good player with a bad player just because the bad player is healthy.
Check the news. Check the inactive list. Check your bench.
Then set the lineup and accept your fate.
Because in fantasy football, the lineup you don’t change is almost always the one that scores 40 points on your bench.
