The Final Whistle: Who’s IN, Who’s OUT Before Kickoff
Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report — Sunday, October 18, 2026
The coffee is brewing, the inactives are rolling in, and somewhere in America a fantasy manager is convincing himself that a third-string running back is a “league winner.” Welcome to Sunday.
Week 6 brings major quarterback absences, a crowded injury report, and several questionable players who could make or break your lineup. Here’s what you need to know before the pigskin flies.
The Big Ones: Players Who Are OUT
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles — OUT
Hurts is sidelined with a calf issue, leaving Tanner McKee in line to start against Carolina. That’s a significant downgrade for the Eagles’ passing game and a major hit to Hurts managers who rely on his rushing upside.
Fantasy fallout: McKee is a desperation Superflex option, not a plug-and-play replacement. Downgrade Philadelphia’s pass catchers slightly because the quarterback change adds uncertainty. The good news: DeVonta Smith is expected to be available.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles — OUT
Barkley remains out with a hamstring injury, and Will Shipley is also ruled out with a foot injury. That leaves Philadelphia’s backfield with Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele and recently added Jaydon Blue.
Fantasy fallout: Pierce will get the majority of the totes, but after last week’s 11 carries for 14 yards you should proceed with caution. He’s a ‘break glass in case of emergency’ RB and shouldn’t be started unless you are desperate.
David Montgomery, RB, Houston Texans — OUT
Montgomery is out with a groin injury, and Tank Dell is also sidelined with a knee injury. Houston loses a key piece of its backfield rotation before its London matchup with Jacksonville.
Fantasy fallout: Woody Marks will step in. This might actually be an upgrade. Marks has outperformed Montgomery up to this point in the season. If you’ve been starting Montgomery, start Marks.
Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens — OUT
Jackson is unavailable with an ankle injury for Baltimore’s matchup against Cleveland.
Fantasy fallout: Jackson managers need another option. His absence also makes Baltimore’s offense less attractive as a whole, especially for players whose fantasy value depends on the quarterback creating explosive plays.
Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets — OUT
Hall is still out with a quad injury, leaving the Jets without their lead back against New England.
Fantasy fallout: Braelon Allen has filled in respectfully since Hall went out three weeks ago. He’s averaging over four yards a carry and can be comfortably started until Hall returns.
Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs — OUT
Rice will miss the Chargers matchup with hamstring and knee issues.
Fantasy fallout: Kansas City’s other pass catchers have an opportunity to absorb targets, but don’t blindly elevate every receiver on the roster. Xavier Worthy is worth a start and Cyrus Allen and Jalen Royals should see an uptick in involvement.
Game-Time Decisions: Keep a Backup Ready
Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints — QUESTIONABLE
Kamara is dealing with a back injury ahead of the Saints’ matchup with the Giants. Chris Olave, who had been dealing with an illness, has been reported as cleared to play.
Fantasy fallout: Kamara managers should have a replacement ready rather than waiting until the lineup lock to panic. If Kamara is active, his workload still deserves attention; if he’s out, the Saints’ remaining backs become more interesting. Olave’s availability is encouraging for managers who have him in their lineups.
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns — QUESTIONABLE
Judkins is dealing with an ankle injury and faces a pregame availability decision. Dylan Sampson is also out, making Cleveland’s backfield situation especially important to monitor.
Fantasy fallout: Don’t lock Judkins into your lineup without checking his final status. If he’s inactive, look at Jaleel McLaughlin and recently elevated Audric Estime. McLaughlin should get the majority of the carries and could be a plug and play for desperate managers.
Tyler Warren, TE, Indianapolis Colts — QUESTIONABLE
Warren picked up a late-week groin issue before Indianapolis faces Tennessee.
Fantasy fallout: Tight end is already a fantasy minefield. If Warren is on your roster, have an alternative ready. Don’t wait until kickoff to discover your backup plan is already playing in the early window.
Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago Bears — QUESTIONABLE
Williams is working back from a hamstring injury and is expected to start against Atlanta, according to NFL Network reporting. His status remains worth checking before kickoff.
Fantasy fallout: Williams’ availability is encouraging, but a return from a hamstring issue can introduce uncertainty—particularly if his rushing and scrambling are part of his fantasy appeal. In single-quarterback leagues, compare him with your alternatives before taking the risk.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, New England Patriots — QUESTIONABLE
Henderson is managing an ankle injury ahead of the Jets game.
Fantasy fallout: If Henderson is limited or unavailable, Rhamondre Stevenson could benefit from additional work. Still, confirm Henderson’s status and don’t assume a full workload for Stevenson until the team’s plans are clearer.
D.J. Moore, WR, Buffalo Bills — QUESTIONABLE
Moore is dealing with a shoulder issue ahead of Buffalo’s matchup with Las Vegas.
Fantasy fallout: This is a late-game headache. Moore is following the same pattern he did last week when he didn’t suit up. With the Bills bye coming up next week, most industry insiders believe the Bills will sit Moore one more week and get him fully healthy for a Week 8 return. If Moore is a key part of your lineup, identify a replacement who plays in the same or a later window. Don’t leave an empty roster spot waiting on a decision.
Mike Evans, WR, San Francisco 49ers — QUESTIONABLE
Evans is dealing with rib pain and Achilles soreness ahead of San Francisco’s Monday-night game against Washington. Deebo Samuel is out with a hamstring injury.
Fantasy fallout: Evans is a risky wait-and-see play, especially for managers who need to finalize a Sunday lineup. If you have a Monday alternative, check the final reports before committing. Samuel managers should look elsewhere.
Good News: Players Trending Toward Availability
DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Smith returned to full practice and has no game designation after working through a hamstring issue.
Fantasy fallout: Smith is expected to be available, but the quarterback change to Tanner McKee adds uncertainty to his outlook. He can remain in consideration, though managers should be realistic about the passing game’s floor.
Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
Olave has been cleared after dealing with an illness.
Fantasy fallout: That’s welcome news for managers who were sweating his availability. As always, check the official inactive list before kickoff.
Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta Falcons
Penix practiced fully and has no injury designation after dealing with a rib issue.
Fantasy fallout: His availability removes the immediate injury concern, though your decision to start him should still depend on matchup, league format, and your other quarterback options.
The Final Whistle: Your Sunday Checklist
Before setting your lineup:
- Replace confirmed absences. Hurts, Barkley, Montgomery, Jackson, Hall, Rice, and Samuel are among the major fantasy names ruled out.
- Check the late decisions. Kamara, Judkins, Warren, Henderson, and D.J. Moore deserve a final status check.
- Account for quarterback changes. Hurts’ absence puts Tanner McKee in line to start for Philadelphia; Jackson’s absence affects Baltimore’s offense.
- Plan for Monday night. Don’t get trapped by an unresolved 49ers or Commanders status without a backup.
- Verify official inactives. Questionable does not mean out, and active does not guarantee a normal workload.
Fantasy football rewards preparation, but Sunday morning rewards the manager who checks the news one more time. Don’t let your opponent beat you because you trusted Thursday’s practice report more than Sunday’s inactive list.
Now go set your lineup—and remember: the only thing worse than a bad start/sit decision is spending all week analyzing it and then forgetting to click “Save.”
Injury information checked Sunday morning, October 18, 2026. Player availability and final inactive lists can change close to kickoff.
