Week 8 Fantasy Football Starts/Sits

SHARE

Week 8 is where fantasy managers start feeling the squeeze. Bye weeks are stealing useful starters, injuries are wrecking carefully constructed lineups, and the waiver wire looks like the clearance rack at a Ross Dress For Less. But don’t panic and blindly start whoever has a pulse. PigSkinFantasy is here to help you find the matchups worth exploiting, and the popular names worth questioning.

✅START ‘EM

1. Omar Cooper Jr., WR, New York Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Cooper has exploded onto the fantasy scene, delivering back-to-back 100-yard games and emerging as a major target for Geno Smith. He’s even out-targeted Garrett Wilson recently. Now he gets a Raiders defense that has struggled against opposing receivers. Cooper may not have entered the season as a household name, but his recent production makes him a legitimate Week 8 starter. Don’t let draft position dictate this Sunday’s lineup.

2. Brenton Strange, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

Tight end is usually a fantasy wasteland with occasional touchdowns sprinkled on top. Strange is giving managers a reason to pay attention. He’s averaged 6.3 catches and 69 yards over his last three games, a substantial jump from his early-season production. Indianapolis has also been vulnerable to tight ends, allowing five touchdowns to the position over a recent six-game stretch. If you’re tired of chasing three-point performances at tight end, Strange deserves a look.

3. Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys

Wilson has climbed into the conversation as a dependable fantasy option, and this matchup offers room for another productive outing. Dallas has struggled defensively, making this an appealing opportunity for Arizona’s passing game. Wilson doesn’t need to score twice to justify a start; consistent targets and yards can do the job. He’s a sensible option for managers navigating bye-week chaos.

❌SIT ‘EM

4. D’Andre Swift, RB, Chicago Bears vs. Seattle Seahawks

Swift is averaging just 77 yards a game over the last three weeks (55 rushing, 22 receiving). Seattle’s defense just held MVP candidate Kenneth Walker to only 2.57 yards per carry last week. That is not an encouraging combination. If Kyle Monangai returns this week, that will even further cap Swift’s opportunities.

PigSkinFantasy angle: Swift has the name recognition and big-play ability, but Seattle’s lock down defense and the potential of lost carries does not bode well for him

5. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

Mahomes remains one of football’s biggest names, but fantasy managers should consider the matchup before automatically penciling him in. Denver can make life uncomfortable for opposing quarterbacks, and Mahomes’ reputation doesn’t award bonus fantasy points. He’s averaging 221 yards a game over his last three starts and has thrown 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s in that time. Last time he faced the Broncos, in Week 1, he threw for 184 yards.

6. Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

Fannin has the talent to produce, but Pittsburgh presents a difficult environment for a Cleveland offense that could struggle to sustain drives. Tight ends are already volatile fantasy assets; a challenging matchup makes the risk worse. If you have a more reliable option, don’t confuse potential with a guarantee.

PigSkinFantasy Bottom Line: Trust opportunity, respect the matchup, and don’t let a big name bully you into a bad lineup decision.

That’s this weeks Starts/Sits. Go win your week, or take a lap!
