Thursday’s NFL Preseason Roundup: Bills Rally, Browns Roll

The final week of the NFL preseason opened Thursday with four games, giving teams one last opportunity to evaluate their rosters before the regular season.

Buffalo rallied to edge Pittsburgh 28-27, scoring a late touchdown before Shane Buechele connected on the go-ahead two-point conversion. Buechele finished with 196 passing yards, while Steelers quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar handled the snaps with Aaron Rodgers sitting out. 

Cleveland delivered the night’s most decisive result, beating New England 37-13 behind a strong performance from Dillon Gabriel. The Browns quarterback threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns as Cleveland built a 27-13 halftime advantage and pulled away. 

San Francisco defeated Las Vegas 18-12 despite failing to score a touchdown. Kicker Eddy Pineiro accounted for all 18 points, converting six field goals, including kicks from 51, 54 and 59 yards. Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza completed 7 of 14 passes for 57 yards with an interception. 

The Rams completed an unbeaten preseason with a 20-18 victory over the Chargers. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert provided one of the night’s biggest highlights with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Johnston, but Los Angeles couldn’t complete the comeback. Rams rookie quarterback Ty Simpson threw for 119 yards and a touchdown.
