NFL Teams Scramble for ‘First Alien Pick’ as League Prepares for Imminent Invasion

NEW YORK — With credible reports of extraterrestrial spacecraft hovering over multiple NFL practice facilities, league officials confirmed Tuesday that all 32 teams are aggressively positioning themselves for the rights to the first interstellar prospect in what insiders are calling the 2027 Cosmic Supplemental Draft.

“Obviously we’ve been monitoring the situation closely,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said during an emergency owners meeting held inside a reinforced bunker beneath league headquarters. “Our scouts have been tracking these beings for months. Let’s just say some of the arm talent we’ve seen on grainy telescope footage makes Patrick Mahomes look like a high school JV quarterback. We need to be ready.”

According to league insiders, several teams have already submitted paperwork under the NFL’s newly created Intergalactic Talent Acquisition Policy, which classifies confirmed alien visitors as international free agents eligible for signing bonuses paid in rare earth minerals, advanced propulsion technology, or future compensatory picks.

The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly early favorites after deploying a fleet of barbecue smoke signals as a “welcoming gesture.”

“We’re not building a superteam anymore,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said. “We’re building a super galaxy team. Imagine Patrick Mahomes throwing to a receiver who can literally teleport behind the secondary. The only concern is whether he understands the route tree or just folds space and time.”

The Los Angeles Rams have responded by hiring an Interdimensional Scout, formerly employed as Aaron Rodgers’ personal shaman, to evaluate extraterrestrial talent near SoFi Stadium.

“These beings move differently,” Sean McVay told reporters while studying blurry footage of what appeared to be a floating, six-armed edge rusher. “We’re excited to explore zero-gravity pass-rush concepts.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly taking a different approach.

Sources say Aaron Rodgers has already begun communicating telepathically with several visiting spacecraft during his offseason meditation sessions.

“The first alien we sign gets the shaman, the yurt, and full veto power over Mike McCarthy’s game plan,” one team source said. “This is bigger than football. This is evolution.”

League sources also confirmed that several franchises have begun private workouts with extraterrestrial prospects.

The Cosmic Combine will reportedly feature the traditional 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and bench press, along with several new drills including wormhole navigation, telepathy accuracy, asteroid avoidance, and simultaneous defensive coordinator mind reading.

One anonymous scout claimed a projected first-round prospect completed the Wonderlic before it was handed to him.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. insisted he has been studying alien prospects “for years.”

“I’ve got an edge rusher from Andromeda graded higher than anyone in this class,” Kiper said. “Elite tentacle bend. Incredible first step. Needs to improve leverage against the run.”

Not every organization is convinced.

One NFC general manager admitted the league may be overlooking potential chemistry issues.

“What if they don’t like shoulder pads?” the executive asked. “Or worse, what if they insist on wearing them ironically?”

Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars quietly inserted a clause into long snapper Ross Matiscik’s contract granting the team exclusive negotiating rights with any sentient being capable of delivering a perfect spiral snap from orbit.

The New York Giants are reportedly targeting an acrobatic wide receiver from the Alpha Centauri system after scouts described his catch radius as “technically unlimited.”

League officials say the aliens have also begun evaluating NFL teams.

One highly coveted prospect reportedly crossed the Browns off his list after reviewing the franchise’s quarterback history.

Another requested clarification on why the Jets continue to describe every season as “different this time.”

Fantasy football managers have already entered full panic mode.

Within minutes of the first confirmed UFO sighting, one dynasty manager traded three future first-round picks for an unidentified prospect listed only as WR-X. The trade has already been vetoed twice.

League rules are still being finalized. Early proposals include:

• A probationary landing period before full roster eligibility.

• Salary cap hits calculated in Earth-equivalent value, including gold, unobtainium, or Super
Bowl rings.

• Mandatory introductory press conferences during which alien players must compliment
American football while politely declining to answer questions about probing.

At press time, mysterious crop circles had appeared outside multiple practice facilities containing what appeared to be fully functional offensive playbooks, while Jerry Jones told reporters the Dallas Cowboys were “very close” to signing the top alien prospect despite having never spoken with him.
